ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Mickaël Couturier
Originally from the south of France, Mickaël studied at Les Beaux-Arts, the most prestigious French art school. He is an accomplished graphic artist, filmmaker, photographer, writer, music composer, and poet. His passion for music led him to join several bands as a singer-songwriter, achieving moderate success in the UK and even securing a top 3 hit on the Icelandic charts.
Mickaël enjoys experimenting with different art mediums, including drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, and… plastic! He seeks beauty but is not attached to the form: It’s all about telling a meaningful story and expressing emotions while using the right tool at the right time. Film has been an important part of this mission because it seamlessly combines visual, musical, and narrative elements. His films, both fiction and documentary, have received critical acclaim, won numerous awards, and been screened at over 150 festivals in 45 countries, including major festivals like Cannes and LA Shorts Fest.
For Mickaël , Art is more than a job or passion; it is a tool for expressing deep emotions, inspiring others, and ultimately creating a better world. As the founder of Plastic Angels, he has spent the past four years fighting to provide the children of Suwung with daily meals, clean water, and access to education, using art as a force for transformation.
Quint
With his signature stencil and spray paint in tow, Quint became one of the first artists who helped revitalize the fascinating street art scene in Bali. Quint’s stencil art is gracing hundreds of walls all around the island and in many major cities of Indonesia as well as in Europe that he often visits and most especially London.
Liina Klauss
Liina Klauss is an environmental artist using colour-bomb techniques to blow your visual radar. Saturated rivers and rainbows emerge against stunning vistas, coaxing you into a surreal dream only to discover that they are created from rubbish. From the most depressing findings emerges beauty you never though possible.
Elissa Gjertson
Artist Elissa Gjertson is the founder of Plastik Kembali, a Lombok-based studio creating artworks from recycled material, upcycled textile and natural fiber. Founded in 2019, the PK mission is to transform one of Indonesia’s biggest challenges – plastic waste harming the land and sea – through one of Indonesia’s greatest strengths: traditional folk art.
Nano Uhero
Nano Uhero is a Balinese artist who has been creating art with different types of media since early childhood. He has designed many iconic large scale sculptures made of bamboo in venues such as Potato head in Bali. He also creates furniture with this process and likes to experiment with color by covering his Art with recycled plastic rope.
